Movin’ In

Among the newcomers to Keuka College is Kelsie Gill, who plans to major in occupational science.

Keuka College welcomes its new students to campus Wednesday, Aug. 20.

Returning students, faculty, and staff were on hand to welcome the newest members of the Keuka College family, answer questions, and assist moving the students into their rooms.

All new students will participate in the Transition Week program, which includes sessions addressing new student issues, academics, team-building, social activities, and preparation for the first day of classes. The week’s activities mark the transition to college life and give newcomers the opportunity to prepare for their new role as Keuka College students.

Classes begin Monday, Aug. 25.

I wanted to be the first to say that it was a major privilege (as a senior)to be a Welcome Jack this past week on campus. Already, I’ve met so many amazing people and I hope that I will have had a lasting impact. I’ve learned that anywhere you go, the best impression (and usually the most lasting one) that you have about an organization and the people it serves is when you see them “at the door,” so to speak and that’s why it was awesome to step up to the challenge of doing this. I heard so many parents that were grateful for people helping them move the son/daughter’s stuff into their residence halls and then I also got to talk quite a bit about my experiences with the new students!

Here’s to a great year and best of luck to all new students as you start your classes today!
