Willie Jones III, a Rochester resident and senior at School of the Arts, received Keuka College’s Experiential Learner of the Month Award for October.
Keuka, the national leader in experiential, hands-on learning, established the program to honor high school students whose commitment to experiential, hands-on learning has made a difference in their communities.
Jones will receive a partial academic fellowship to Keuka and qualify for the Experiential Learner of the Year Award, which carries a full academic fellowship to the College.
Jones was nominated for the award by Michael Murphy, a school counselor at School of the Arts.
“Willie is dedicated to his studies and has displayed the same kind of dedication and hard work to his extracurricular activities,” said Murphy.
Jones, a vocal major, has been a member of the varsity basketball team since ninth grade. He plans to study physical therapy in college and is preparing for that major by taking pre-calculus, anatomy and physics his senior year.
