Economic Development Focus of Presentation

Keuka College’s Community Luncheon Series will continue Thursday, April 14 with a talk by Mike Linehan, president and chief operating officer of the Yates County Chamber of Commerce and Steve Griffin, CEO of the Finger Lakes Economic Development Center (FLEDC).

Linehan and Griffin will discuss “Economic Development in Yates County” at noon in the Gannett Room of Lightner Library.

After moving to Penn Yan more than two decades ago, Linehan became involved in the hospitality and tourism industries. He holds degrees from St. John Fisher College, Corning Community College, Finger Lakes Community College, and University of Oklahoma’s Institute for Organizational Management.

Linehan serves as chair of Keuka College’s Community Associates Board, is a member of the Finger Lakes Region Tourism Promotion Agencies Advisory Board, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and Loyal Order of Moose. He is past president and treasurer of the New York State Travel and Vacation Commerce Executives, and is a member of the Chamber Alliance of New York State.

Griffin is responsible for the overall operations of the FLEDC, and serves as president of the Rochester Finger Lakes Regional Development Corporation. He is an executive committee member of the Genesee Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council, as well as numerous other regional and local development committees. Griffin received his MBA from the University at Buffalo and a bachelor’s degree from Niagara University.

He has more than 12 years of business experience across multiple industries, including five years as executive vice president of business development for the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC). During that time, Griffin assisted 150 businesses expand or locate in Genesee County and invest more than $250 million.

Tickets for the luncheon are $12.75, $2.50 of which goes to the Penn Yan Keuka Club Scholarship Fund. The fund provides an annual scholarship to a local student attending Keuka College.     We all need development in our own country.Although there are governments that have failed to make their countries better places to be and to visit.The Economy must be focused on to enable every citizen enjoy his or her country.Thanks for the information and i love the site.
