Hispanic Dance Company to Perform Sept. 19

As part of the College’s observance of Hispanic Heritage Month, the highly acclaimed Borinquen Dance Theatre will perform  Friday, Sept. 19 in Norton Chapel.

One of the highlights of Family Weekend, the performance begins at 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

The Hispanic dance company was founded in 1981 by Nydia Padilla-Rodriguez (artistic director) as part of the Puerto Rican Arts and Culture Center in Rochester. The group blends African, Taino Indian and Spansih influences in its shows.

At 5 p.m. there will be a Hispanic Heritage Dinner  in the Corning Room of Dahlstrom Student Center. Tickets are $9.80 for adults, $4.90 for children age 12 and under, and $2 for students on the College’s meal plan. Reservations are required and may be made by contacting the Office of Alumni and Family Relations (ext. 5238).

Both events are sponsored by the  Office of Multicultural Affairs, Bearers of Ancient Kultures United (BAKU), and the Office of Alumni and Family Relations.
