The Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt.
The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World will be the focus of Keuka College’s next Community Luncheon Series presentation Tuesday, Oct. 30.
The presentation, led by longtime Keuka Lake resident Ray Ettington, begins at noon in the Gannett Room of Lightner Library.
An-IBM retiree, Ettington counts among his interests technology, history, geography, and public speaking. These resulted in his presentation of “virtual vacations,” a hobby that not only entertains, but encourages his audiences to globe-trot via computer.
Through “visits” to the modern venues and then, by computer, the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World story is told. Ettington will show that after thousands of years, the mystery of how the pyramids were built was solved. He will also discuss the modern legacy of the other six wonders.
Tickets for the luncheon are $12.75, $2.50 of which goes to the Penn Yan Keuka Club Scholarship Fund. The fund provides an annual scholarship to a local student attending Keuka College. Seating is limited, so reservations are advised.
Make checks payable to Keuka College and mail to: Office of Alumni and Family Relations, Keuka College, Keuka Park, N.Y. 14478. Reservations may also be made online at http://events.keuka.edu.The reservation deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 23.
