Keuka College and Yates County are teaming up to strengthen workforce development across the region by expanding experiential learning and career opportunities for students, and increasing access to higher education for county workers.
Under the new partnership, Yates County’s nearly 500 employees and their family members will be eligible for reduced tuition in Keuka College’s undergraduate, graduate, online, and hybrid academic programs. The agreement also will create additional opportunities for Keuka College students to complete Field Period® internships and pursue careers within the county government.
“This is an excellent example of what’s possible when higher education and local government work together. This collaboration enables us to invest in local talent while meeting the workforce needs of our region. We are proud to partner with Yates County to benefit students, employees, and the communities we serve.”
Yates County Director of Human Resources Kerry Brennan said the partnership will be key in nurturing and retaining local talent.
“By creating educational and workforce opportunities for county employees, their immediate family members, and students, the county hopes to enhance recruitment, retention, professional development, and long-term investment in the local workforce,” she said. “This partnership reflects the county’s commitment to developing talent locally and creating opportunities that benefit both county operations and the community we serve.”
The partnership was facilitated through the efforts of Keuka College Workforce Development Specialist Steve Griffin, whose outreach and relationship-building efforts have helped expand collaborations between the College and employers throughout the Finger Lakes region.
Keuka College’s workforce development partnerships are designed to support local employers while creating opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience through the College’s signature Field Period program.
